Is it okay to throw a birthday party for yourself?
I am turning 29 soon, and I’d like to host a wine and cheese tasting party in my backyard as a celebration. My husband really isn’t the party-planning type, so is it okay if I plan the party and send out invitations myself, or is that poor etiquette?
I would state on the invitation that gifts are not expected. Instead each couple / person / group of friends riding together should bring one bottle of wine to share with others (doesn’t have to be fancy… just interesting) and one fancy cheese. Non-drinkers could instead bring a bottle of sparkling cider and a fancy cheese. We would provide a few bottles of wine, non-alcoholic drinks, crackers, fruit, and other cheese plate items.
Does this sound like it would be okay in terms of etiquette? Thanks!
